Yay You!

So you have decided to start or scale a
Side Hustle, or I suppose you could just
be curious.

Either way, here is the low down

What is a Side Hustle?

A side hustle, sometimes called a passion project is different to a hobby and different to a full time gig or job.

In fact a side hustle is the job you do when you are not doing your main gig.

I deliberately chose the word ‘job’ because the difference between a side hustle and a hobby is that you are intending to make money out of it. Although, it could start as a hobby and grow financial, as interest grows.

Why Start a Side Hustle?

The obvious why is for additional income. If that was all it was about then you could always get a second job.

My experience in working with side hustlers and my own experience is there are 3 reasons why someone starts a side hustle:

  1. Creative Outlet
  2. Test a Business Idea
  3. Future Proof your career

Tips for making your side
hustle work

Side Hustles require a few things:

  1. Passion - you need to be super excited to be able to maintain this when you could just chill or your friends are partying
  2. Don't bet the bank, yet - test it and make sure its the bees knees first
  3. Organisation - sounds boring, but it super critical
  4. Patience - forging a path no-one or limited people have done before can be daunting

How to get started?

Love a keen bean!

I have helped hustlers with the following:

  • Ideas generating
  • Juicy beginning stuff - Names, tag lines etc
  • Planning & Organising
  • Product creation
  • Publishing for credibility
  • Merch ideas and creation
  • Transition to full hustle (holy grail of hustling)
  • Yearly Planning & Start up
  • Market ready - Both launch and for an actual walking around market thing

The best way to see if this is for you, is to hit me up for a free 30 mins discovery session.

I know scary right!

It is the easiest and quickest way. I promise to be nice!

Christina Morgan-Meldrum (CMM) is an author, speaker, curator, podcaster and helps people start and scale side hustles, especially creatives and musicians by unearthing what’s possible to design the life you want!

She has cultivated the ability to walk into any industry, see what is not seen, distil what is complicated, and simplify the chaos.  This skill has been forged in a deliberate and concentrated way for over 20 years, through Personal Coaching and working in Organisational Change Management (before it was even a discipline).

Christina started experimenting with sides hustles in 2010, starting a T-shirt design company – Yellow & Co, Ideas coaching practice – Ideas Coach and Ideas Café.

Then she started coaching musicians and other creatives on how to be more entrepreneurial, resulting in her writing a book called Working your Mojo-Entrepreneurial Thinking For Musicians.

Christina fills her time, coaching people on their side hustles, blogging, podcasting - Quirky & Chenille (Christina is Quirky), learning the piano, while working on Change Management gigs.  If you are looking for her, she is likely at her spiritual home JB Hi-Fi or exploring stationary stores or artisan markets.

To manage this amount of side hustles, requires some skills.  Christina's unique background in so many different areas and industries, means she will be able to help you with yours.  Collaboration runs through her veins, so everything she has been able to understand and curate, is yours.

What a great session! Thanks so much for your time Christina, I’m still buzzing and motivated!!!!
Christina is so supportive, colourful and positive. Her intuition has made it so easy to get on track. And we’re proud to say that we are still on the right path even today!

Christina has had a healthy obsession with music, like forever, and is constantly blown away by the amount of talent out there.  While there have been a lot of changes to this industry over the years the relevance of the industry is a strong today as it has ever been.  Songs still capture our emotions and explain how we are feeling, they still speak to us like nothing ever before.

Making it in the industry has changed dramatically, so new ways need to be created.  The rise of the artisan carving a unique way that suits you and your style has never been more relevant than today.  You need to do this your way, without sacrificing your musical integrity, and move your side hustle into your main hustle.

As the author of Working Your Mojo, Christina has created a 6-track process for musicians & creatives to gain clarity around their music career, and teaches them how to implement their ideas using tangible actions, without spending loads of money. Working Your Mojo is written for musicians & creatives who want to get the results they are expecting, their way.  Working your Mojo is all about your music, your way!
